To Bailout... or not to bailout? Is the question.

It seems lately that there has been some controversy over the proposed automotive industry bailout. Seems maybe alot of people are passionately for it, or against it. Either way is understandable.

But I sure do hope those folks look at the big picture, along with our congressmen and women in D.C. The long-term ramifications on our economy if SOMETHING doesn't happen. Imagine the unemployment going well above our already 10+ million people. Granted, there are about what- 300m people in our country now, but look at the shape our economy is in now with 10m unemployed!!

Also- think of what will be on the roads. Those of you who drive only American-manufacturer cars will have to move over, along with everybody else, to driving expensive imports. Repair costs are already higher on alot of these vehicles because they are built overseas- getting the parts is a pain in the butt- and imagine the cost- currency conversion alone! Granted, alot of foreign vehicles are built right here in the USA, which is quite refreshing (you can actually tell this, if you wanted to, by looking at the first character of your Vehicle Identification Number. If it is a number, USA. If it's a letter, say "K," you're driving a full-blooded *er* oiled import- hope you enjoyed a little trivia!Check it out here!). Not to mention the cost of cars in general would go up due to less choice available.

Of course, there are cons- the $70b the stupid government spent on the banks... not that it wasn't needed (as if the unemployment figure above isn't bad enough!), but sheesh... to give banks and not others help? That's wrong. I digress.

Time Off

So Keith and I took a couple of days off from work, making a nice, 4-day weekend for us. We did some cleaning and remodeling, hanging some new lights in our now-less-dated house. Below are some before and after shots... enjoy!

Much better. YAY!

Uh-huh!
So now that our house looks that much better we can relax- a little. Still lots of cleaning and organizing to do. Woohoo!

OK.

So it's been too long since I posted.

As you heard, Obama won the election last week, which is both exciting and scary; to me his voting record and beliefs say it all. I don't have much time for a soapbox tonight about exactly what I disagree with, just wanted to own up to being a bad blogger! I have been lazy and busy (if that makes any sense?)! LOL

As for other things, we got some different things done at our house this last weekend... finally painted our office and cleared it out but now we need to sort through the clutter and discard what we don't need. Another process, another chore, another day. LOL Still left to do: clean/redecorate kitchen, hang new light fixtures (we live in a 1972 house and the current ones are UGLY!) and did I mention de-cluttering?

Anyways I must get to bed as I do have to work tomorrow. Maybe I can stay up late tomorrow too? :) Who knows.

That Sinking Feeling

I hate to be pessimistic but I have a sinking feeling about Tuesday. I think it's awesome that a black guy will be in office and all that but THIS IS THE WRONG MAN. Obama voters, you will see this when we get attacked again, when crime goes up b/c less people can afford to have guns to protect themselves thanks to his extra taxes on weapons, when married peoples' paychecks go DOWN and people go bankrupt (or damn close to it) b/c he let Bush's tax cuts lapse (yes, same guy who said he wouldn't raise taxes!), when peoples' health deteriorates b/c they had to wait weeks/months for a surgery/treatment they could've gotten under NORMAL healthcare.

I'm certainly not looking forward to a decrease in my paycheck simply for being married. Nor am I looking forward to getting crappy healthcare. I have worked my butt off to get an education so I could get a halfway decent job with decent benefits. If socialized healthcare will work, how come there are so many complaints about medicare, tricare and VA? Seriously, I have yet to hear a single good thing about any of them. From what I can see, even medicaid sucks. Such damn long ER waits in county hospitals? Doctor shortages in Canada (that comes from the horse's mouth so to speak, ladies and gents.)? Yes, even the docs don't wanna put up with that bullsh*t.
