One year ago today...

I was staring at the stick I had just peed on at 2am in pure disbelief that a TEST LINE had popped up on it right away, almost immediately after the pee hit it. The one month we were totally not trying... (heck, we had impending layoffs and so much uncertainty...) was the one month we hit the jackpot! LOL

Scared and shocked, I put the test down on the sink and finished about my business. I brought it back into the bedroom with me and set it on the nightstand, and crawled back into bed. Sleep?? Yeah, right. DH stirred and asked, "How are you?"

"I'm pregnant," I replied, still in disbelief. What a ride we were about to embark on...

Psych!

27w 1d today. WOW! Had the evil glucose test today and should find out my results by Monday. The doc will call me only if they are abnormal, so nothing personal, doc, but I don't wanna hear from you! LOL

Actually the test wasn't really all that evil. Since I didn't have to fast I had some eggs for breakfast (golden rule: no sugar)- nice and protein fortified. Then at 8 (my appointment was at 9) I downed the orange stuff in under a minute. My deadline was five minutes. It actually did taste like orange Fanta! I felt a little jittery for a while afterward but Jessica stayed pretty quiet, surprisingly enough!

I was promptly poked by the nurse at 9 for my blood sample which wasn't that bad either. Now I'm funny about these blood draws; I can't watch the needle go in (or stand it, for that matter) but I can watch the blood flow out. Weird, huh? And I'm a blood donor, to boot! (blood banks just love the o+ red juice) Nurse told me that it will be at least tomorrow before I hear anything, Monday at the latest. Let's hope I don't hear anything at all. Not gonna stress, not gonna stress, not gonna stress...

My diet has been fairly decent- nothing like being accountable to your child. Never have I made so much effort to eat so many fruits and veggies, while grains, calcium, etc... usually I just go for whatever's available- forget what I've had all day. And if I breastfeed, it will provide me even more motive to stay on this healthy track! And healthy Jessica is, measuring at 28 weeks, HR of 150 and a mommy who only gained 4#. Woohoo!

Next up: visit in 3 weeks (4 weeks would be the week of good ol' Turkey Day, no visits that week, unless they're to a turkey dinner of course!)- another poke to the arm for my CBC and I get to start peeing in a cup at every visit. After this next visit I graduate to bi-weekly visits! YEAH!

Quick Update

Before I went to bed I just wanted to update y'all- the lady who I was referring to in my previous post whose b/w (AFP test) came back positive for Down's (T21)- her baby is OK!!

There have been several more false and hopefully-false positive results with the thing... SO not worth it. Still glad I turned it down.

This is it...

...tomorrow's the day!

After a year of waiting for my test results (okay, only a month, but...) I finally get to find out what (if anything) is interfering with my body's desire (or ability, whatever the case may be) to cooperate with me in my quest for babies. If I have to load up on folic acid and/or give myself shots I don't care- just as long as I get a couple of healthy kiddos out of it- BRING IT!!

I guess it's one of the good things (if any) about the layoff issue... layoffs make a very fine distraction from the rest of the world. But I still wouldn't wish ANY of this crap on my worst enemy. It reeeeeeally sucks.

Whatever.

I received the call today from my doc regarding the progesterone test I had yesterday.. level was 13.1, so I O'd (thanks, but I could tell by my chart), but it's normal for conception if I am preggo. I know I'm not since we didn't try this month, pending our results of my panel, which I get a week from today (won't come soon enough!).

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH!

13 vials!!

Yup- you read right... 13 vials of blood taken at the doc's today. They did a full RPL panel- from my chromosomes to Lupus (!this one never even ocurred to me!) to clotting disorders. I know it's not the end of the world and everything will work out but it's gonna be hard to be patient for.. the next several weeks. Yup, several weeks. They send this stuff to an outside lab for analysis.

My next appt (to find out the results) is in 4 weeks- 2/3- but I looked at our calendar afterwards and realized we have a vacation planned. ARGH! So I'm going to call in tomorrow and see if we can amend things a bit. Ugh. I hate schedules.

On the bright side of things we have taken action, so I feel much better, like we are working toward an answer. Heck, even if god-forbid I do have a clotting disorder they'll just give me blood thinners- yeah I'll bruise easily but I don't care ;) Now chromosomal I have no idea. I'm NOT having an amnio when I do stay preggo. After all this cr@p I'm not going to consciously do something to put my baby at risk.
