Crazy Girls and Sweet Life

I can't believe that my little big girl is a month old already! On the 26th we took her to her 1-month ped appt. She was already up to 11#6oz (up from 9#7oz two and a half weeks prior)! The chunky monkey was 22 inches long (up from 20.5). At this rate, this child will outgrow her bassinet in the next month/month and a half, and her carseat at 6-7 mos old! eek! But I'm not complaining... I'm grateful to have a healthy little porker on my hands!!

And it's September already?! Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday in some ways and years ago in other ways that I was at my new job a month already, a year ago today. I guess because I have had so much going on it makes time even more hard to discern. Started a job 8/2/10, 3.5 mos later found out I was prego again, got Jessy baptized, celebrated Jessy's first Christmas, first birthday, found out we were having another girl... it just goes on and on!

Now I must get attempt to get Natalie into at least somewhat of a routine before I return to work, probably sometime middle of/later this month. This little lady likes to eat, and eat, and eat, and eat, and eat, and pee, and eat, and eat, and eat, and poop, and eat, and sleep... Oh, and did I mention- she likes to eat? Some days it seems continuous. Which is okay, except... a babysitter won't be able to juggle the other kids with her this way! So the routine thing isn't going too bad, except Miss Natalie seems to be in a growth spurt, so she's eating and fussing a bit more than usual, and at 5 weeks, that's to be expected. I have began to give her mostly bottles during the day to help her transition, which has had an unexpected side effect- the two days I have done this so far she has STTN. Yup, STTN at a month old! I'll take it! I just hope it doesn't completely kill my supply (I have been pumping whenever I get the chance to- usually when the girls are napping, during the day). Hmmm I may exclusively nurse her over the weekend to hopefully save my supply ;) and perhaps give me an idea of what I am in for if I indeed pump while working. (besides the $$ savings)

Which brings us to another topic- who to send her to. We may have a slot at Jessy's old daycare. Jessy enjoyed it there, we get along with the lady, and Jessy seemed well taken-care of (she had a helper; there were alot of kids there). I also have a friend who is willing to take on my girls for what will amount to about $100 less per month and she has less kiddos. She's closer to our house and the one Jessy has been going to is closer to my work (keep in mind I live about 9 miles from work, so that's not a huge factor...). hmmm...

And now work! FMLA was no help to me, so my position isn't guaranteed. However, my boss stated that when I was ready to go back, to simply send in my resume to her recruiter to begin the process again. I really hope I can go back to where I was. Since I have to go back (didn't hit the lottery this time, either, lol), I may as well go somewhere where I enjoy the people and the company. The work can be a tad stressful (customer service) at times, but hey, it pays the bills and my co-workers rock (boss rocked too!). Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Next week I have my 6-week checkup with my OB. already. eek. I anticipate that I will be cleared for normal activities (YAY! Finally be able to "legally" lift Natalie and Jessy- technically shouldn't be lifting more than 10# per dr's orders) then and will be able to let the weight-loss games begin.I have at least 30# to lose- lots of work ahead but with the weather cooling off here hopefully soon (this monster heat wave we have been in has to break... right? RIGHT????) DH and I will be able to resume our walks. Hello, double stroller! No pic yet, but when we get it I will definitely post one!

Methinks Jessy will wake up here very shortly... better get ready. ;)

Days Go By...

It's October. That has had me thinking alot of the first pg loss that Keith and I had to deal with. Pumpkin would have most likely been due yesterday(or hereabouts). I'd have a one-year-old. But I know this kid is in good hands. I'm not as emotional as I had thought I'd be; I think that's because Keith had a half-day scheduled at work so it felt like a weekend. His being around me was a pleasant distraction. So was our weather change; we made an impromptu trip to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for chili, which I promptly threw into the crock pot when we arrived back home.

Then I baked a cake. Yes, it's something I swore the other day up and down I wouldn't do, but here I am doing it. The cupcakes I had bought just didn't cut it. (sorry, no pics of the cupcakes..) I've been craving cake lately and thought I could get by on the cupcakes and wanted (and still want) to be a miminalist when it comes to junk food. Yeah, go figure- the month before my GD test is the month when I crave all this stuff big-time. I've been a good girl (tried to, lol) for the most part so this shouldn't throw me off, right? Ah, wait- if it's there, it's there, nothing can throw it either way (well, maybe stuff could throw it to a false pos.)- it is what it is. Ah, that's the expression I was looking for.

And now, the infamous cake.

Looking for a legit, work-at-home job that's not an MLM! Prefer no sales or phone work (computer's too slow and can't afford a new one right now, and don't even mention our neighborhood's obnoxious dogs).. ;)

It's been HOW long!?!? ...and other thoughts.

10 years ago this month I began my second semester as a senior in high school. Yipes. 10 years. That's a long time.

In that time I spent five (long) years getting myself through college. Unfortunately I became jaded and a tad cynical through those years. When I finally got my BA in Communications (Public Relations) in 2004 I was SOOO glad to just be OUT of there. Five months later I got my first (and only, still) full-time job.

I had started out fresh out of high school thinking I wanted to be a lawyer. Yes, the law is fascinating, but I began to realize that lawyers typically have very busy schedules. At least from what I saw at the time. Eek. That on top of a few semesters of undergrad were enough to scare me away from even the prospects of law school. LOL

I then "explored" business as a major. The classes were pretty cool, however, two sour  AWFUL professors and a b*tch of an adviser, all in one semester, was enough to totally disgust me out of that prospect. After all, if I came up on two horrible professors and one adviser in one semester, what would my odds of having many at-least-halfway-decent instructors be?  Part of me wanted to transfer colleges but financially I didn't feel that would be a wise option.

It wasn't until my final two semesters at UTA that I was able to relax. I became happy again and my grades improved, that being either from knowing I had so little time left in college or the fact that I had adopted somewhat of an "I-don't-care" attitude about grades. Perhaps a lesson could be learned from that alone.

Now that I am nearly five years out of college I have been thinking (okay, toying with) about the idea of going back to school. I know I want the most no-nonsense approach possible (i.e. I prefer to skip out on a GMAT or a GRE).

The thing I am most hung-up about is what to study! I have seriously considered journalism (becoming a TV reporter, perhaps), something medical, and even teaching. As one can see there is a pretty big gap between any of these options. My interests are probably way too diversified. LOL However, since my interests are this diversified (as they have always been) it shows in my college transcript. 16 hours here, 8 hours there.

While that may sound great for job opportunities, it seems as though recruiters want something more specific. For instance, to get into a teaching-certificate program at my local junior college (they offer this option for those who want to teach and already have a bachelor's degree), they want so many credit hours of classes in the field you desire to teach in. Bad news for me, as I don't have this number of hours in any of my studied classes (and I can't remember what the number is off the top of my head).

As for what I would teach, probably science, English or even writing, at an Elementary level. Hmmm... maybe even entry-level Spanish?

Since I do know Spanish yo hablo espanol [sic], yo pude trabajar en medicina y translatar- por eso necesitare [sic] tomar clases por mi vocabulario medico [sic]. (Since I speak Spanish, I could work in medicine and translate, but I will need to take classes for my medical vocabulary (in Spanish). *I know the grammar is off in that sentence but I don't know how to put in the accents and others on a computer.)

Or for medicine I could even work in a doctor's office... perhaps a specialist? I could work with an OBGYN or even a cardiologist. Hmmm... or even be a physician's assistant... or just relax and do medical transcription. With that, I could possibly work at home eventually.

Or, even sit down with my supervisors and seriously check into our team-lead development program at my current job.

Yikes, the possibilities. One day I will make up my mind. ;) lol
